Stephen Paul Baumgart (Steve) moved to the Cincinnati area from Corydon, Indiana with his parents Paul and Doris Baumgard and sister Debbie during his senior year of high school. Jim and Jack kenner first met Steve and his sister Debbie at Zion Lutheran Church located on Burney Lane. Jack Kenner was in the same Physics class as Steve.
Steve attended Indiana University in Jeffersonville, Indiana before being killed on December 17, 1968 by a drunk driver on I-64 near New Albany, Indiana. Steve helped Jim and I with our lawn maintenance and landscaping business during the summer of 1967. Jim and I attended Steve's funeral services with Pastor Bunn in Corydon, Indiana.
Steve came home for the Christmas holidays in December 1967. Jim and I showed him many of the pubs and other fun places around the University of Cincinnati during his holiday stay.
Steve, Debbie and his parents were wonderful friends.
